I am trying to find out if Private Charles Grapes 3923, Norfolk Regiment and English Company, Mounted Infantry, Mashonaland Field Force is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery, Harare.

He was wounded at Chena’s Kraaal on 12 October and died in Fort Salisbury 17 or 19 pr 20 (I’ve seen all three in print) October 1896. Terry Cawood, South African Graves Project, strongly suspects Grapes will have been buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. If so, I would love to have a photograph of his grave.

Is there anybody in Harare that can help me please?

Rob.

They list the names of 436 buried there but no Grapes.
