Another good find!

Pte 497 JW Thompson 1st bn Scots Guards - wounded Modder River 28-11-1899 and died of wounds (not killed as on the gravestone) at Wynberg.

Living as I do in South Africa, where the commemoration of the dead of the Boer War (and, indeed, other wars) is a rare event, I find it amazing and very touching that someone in Longton had the motivation and found the time to place a Remembrance Day cross on this grave.
