Hello Berenice

Another nice find:

Private 195 Edward Houghton Walton Le Dale Division St John's Ambulance Brigade

His QSA and SJAB medal were sold by London Medals earlier this year.

Many thanks. I'd had a look in the AWB name search and saw an E. Houghton who was a St John Ambulance Brigade member but as he doesn't appear on the Preston SJAB plaque I'd assumed it wasn't him. Sad that they left him off it as Walton-le-Dale is only a couple of miles from Preston centre, even if it is a separate place and, presumably, was a different corps.

In the Preston Guardian of 23rd June 1900.

I wonder if any of the photos taken by Edward Houghton survive? Was he able to have a camera with him because he wasn't regular army?
