Hugh Selwyn Gaskell's book
With Lord Methuen in South Africa narrates his experiences in the period February 1900 to May 1901.
It is a chronologically arranged account in 21 unnamed chapters and makes very interesting reading. I could imagine his experiences be shared by many of the IY in South Africa at that time.
Hugh served in the Great War as a Captain in the RAMC. There is a biography of him here:
