While pre-dating the Boer War by a decade I am hoping that this 164 page book written by Major L Edye, RMLI, and Captain E Rhodes, Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1889 will prove useful.

It has been prompted by research into Captain Elmhirst Rhdes who was Cecil Rhodes's brother and worked as Director of Signalling in the Boer War.
