One of the areas I have been investigating for the site is an area where members can post their own information, effectively a blog within the ABW site.

We would continue to operate the forum. The blog would be an additional feature to use for ABW-related material.

The main difference would be that, with the blog, members would have full control of the area. Other members would be able to read the blog and post comments and replies.

It is straightforward to implement on the site. The question is how useful it would be.

What do you think?

With thanks

Hello David,
An interesting idea.
One of my other "hobbies" is running and I am a member of a website dedicated to that form of persuit.
Within the forum they incorporate a members blog which is well used and can be an interesting read.
Members generally record their day to day activities and interesting things that happen during their training runs and races etc.
Although an interesting concept for this forum I am not sure how members could contribute, would it be a blog about for example a visit to a medal fair and a detailed account of the items around?
I am using a personal example of course of my ventures to my monthly adventures!
As you state "It is straightforward to implement on the site." so why not give it a try, I would try to contribute if I could.

Paul :)

Hi David.....

Huuuuummmmm ;) a Blog.....

Are our posts already a form of blog?????

Along with research and information would a blog be just basically the same?????

There would have to be some very strict rules laid down about what can be said and what could not..... After all we do not want to have anything detrimental about the site or any of the members….. This would require someone to monitor the blogs very closely……

But after saying all that……

I would be willing to add my 2 cents worth every now and then……

David,

With Mike on this. The forum works well and I can't see what a blog can add. Happy to be proved wrong though.

Best

Justin

Thank you for this feedback. If we didn't have a forum, a blog would be a possible next step but I am struggling to see how both would add any value to the site. The forum has many of the features of a blog anyway.

I will park this idea for now.

If there was a cogent requirement, we could always create a new area in the forum for personal blogs and trial that.

With thanks
