David
Great to see an inscribed rifle such as that illustrated. The MHR supplied to the ZAR had a different profile receiver ("hump backed") to that of the British army version. It was, of course, otherwise similar and chambered for the .450" MHR round - not the .577" round as described by Antony Cribb Ltd.
Civil Surgeon F.G.Engelbach was attached to the CIV Sqn Volunteer Ambulance when he lost his life on 13/12/00.
Thanks for showing that rifle, David.
Regards
IL.

Whoops  Whilst on the AM walk, a bit of thinking made me check with SAFF ; which source confirmed Civil Surgeon F.G.Englebach was listed under "Civil Surgeons and Volunteer Ambulances" and not the CIV. The Palmer roll might be read that way.
