I see that DNW are including a nice run of Kimberley Siege Soup and Meat Ration tickets in their Banknote Auction on 1 October.

The scarcity and shortage of food during the major Sieges during the Anglo Boer War were a very real problem for the defenders.

The situation in Ladysmith became particularly critical whereas the resources of De Beers in Kimberley and the foresight of the Weil brothers in Mafeking did much to ameliorate the situation during those two sieges.
