I recently bought this child's block toy on Ebay. Only one face was illustrated:-

It has taken me a long time to sort the other faces of the puzzle and I suspect Edwardian children were smarter than me but I was pleased with the results and can now share them with you. I have seen these lithographs before but not in this format. The artist signs himself as T. Neuman. Please let me know if you think I have mis-identified the battle scenes.

Surrender of Cronje

Colenso

Magersfontein (?)

Spionkop (??)

Soldiers Of The Queen

After so many years, the colours still look great.

DunnBoer,

I really like those images. Have not come across those before.

Your names look good to me. I have seen the image you labelled as Magersfontein as Elandslaagte. In fact, I use that image on the cover of my Elandslaagte book.

Best wishes
David

That first picture that included the Back-acher must be quite early to include him. Perhaps late 1899 or up to April 1900?

You are probably right. I suggested Magersfontein purely because the British troops being decimated are all Scottish.
