The Wellcome collection has some good images about all aspects of hospitals, casualties, etc.
And they allow high quality images to be downloaded for free

This was slightly off topic!

Interestingly, Ogé's poster started life as an advertisement for "SUPRÊMES PILULES du DOCTEUR TRABANT".
The "Pilules DUM DUM" version retains ghost lettering on the container label, showing that this was a later printing.

The Wellcome Library entry states: "Published in two versions, one with text above and below advertising pills marketed under the name of Doctor Trabant (published in January 1900 and banned by the French government) and one with no reference to any pharmacist. Which came first is not known: see Robert-Sterkendries, loc. cit." The answer to the last sentence is revealed below.

Below is a detail of the pill container showing the ghost lettering "Toutes Pharamcies".

Another poster by Ogé ...

This one is huge - nearly 2m high. No wall in my house is big enough, so sadly it remains rolled in a tube.

Neville,
how about making a virtual museum so the public can view your collection?
Perhaps David could host it on this site? Your items are really well photographed and are all fascinating.

Thank you Rob,

A work in progress.
I am slowly photographing what I can. But much is beyond my expertise and I will need professional help. Luckily I am still in contact with the museum photographer from my archaeology days. But until we are properly through all this ghastliness, that is something that remains on hold.

A book is a possibility, but it is early days.

Neville
