Further research shows that, despite her precarious start, Agatha Mavis Oliver lived to a goodish age. She was born in Kimberley on 25 January 1900 and died on 10 January 1962, aged 61 years. Place of death not known.

On 12 January 1926 she married Jean Etienne de Villiers (1894-1960). The manifest of the “Edinburgh Castle” when she arrived at Southampton on 15 February 1950 shows that Jean became a Supreme Court Judge and they had two children.

Agatha’s father, The Mayor of Kimberley during the siege, was Henry Alfred Oliver (1854-1935) born in Nottingham (UK) and died in Capetown. On 9 April 1898 he married Agatha Catharina Alexander (1862-1937) born in Hopetown, North Cape Colony and died in Johannesburg.
