Lovely example.

It is made from the bottom half of a British 15-pdr driving band, which has been inverted. These shells had two cannelures or horizontal grooves, one running through the centre of the band and the second, lower one, close to its bottom edge.

A similar brooch, again using the lower part of a 15-pdr driving band, but this time the correct way up.
