These are the covers of a series of stories for boys published by the Aldine Publishing Company commencing in February 1900 and initially entirely Boer War related. The central character (Harry St George!) is known as "The Boy Scout" and it is possible that both the name and uniform my have sown a seed of an idea in the mind of Baden Powell six years before he founded the Boy Scouts. I hope you enjoy these evocative covers as much as I do.

How could the Imperial Forces ever lose with Harry St. George within the ranks!
Many thanks for posting these covers, they must have enthralled the boys back in Blighty!
Cheers Steve

I echo Steve's comments on how interesting these look.

How interesting that they are featuring a boy scout too.
