Wonder if anyone knows about cigarette cards issued by B Morris & Sons Ltd with the brand "Society Girl"? Believe they are scenes from the war - possible VC winners stories? Looking for the date of issue and the illustrator if possible. Many thanks. TB

In a piece published in the South African Military Society Journal (Vol 2, No 2 - Dec 1989), "Cigarette Cards and South African Military History", Dr C Mazansky states:

"B Morris and Sons published, in 1900, a set titled 'Boer War'. In fact, the set is devoted entirely to VC heroes. The front shows an illustration of the recipient and beneath there is a description with the name of the recipient, his regiment, and how he won his Victoria Cross".

Unfortunately the writer does not identify the artist.
