Hi,

Can anyone help identify the personel or rgiments in this photo. The black armbands suggest it's post Jan 1901

Thanks in advance

It would be of great assistance if you could attach a picture of your subject officer.

Hi, Sorry, I have been struggling all morning to try and attach a photo. I don't know how to compress a photo so it doesn't exceed the limited in terms of size. I haven't been able to work it out. I'm not very computer savvy so fail at every attempt. Any advice on how to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks for posting that. Regarding your initial question, what leads you to assume the tough-looking bunch are Australian? Two of them are in civilian dress, anyway. Is there any aditional info on the rear of the pic? Is there any background to how the pic came to your attention? At first glance, it appears to me that third chap from my right, back row, has something like SALH feathers in his slouch hat. And that the chap seated in the chair, middle row, has staff tabs on his collar. As well, three of the chaps in the front row appear to have one or more stars ("pips") on their epaulettes. That is to say Lieutenants.
A closer examination of the original pic to look what appear to be epaulette badges and the like, might tell us more.
Regards
IL.

Hi Sharly, and welcome to the forum.
The first chap in the left of the back row with the 'lemon squeezer' hat could be a Canadian Scout?
The man next to him may be of Rimington's Tigers/Damant's Horse. It looks like there is a leopard skin band around his slouch hat as worn by the unit.
