Another view of Pom-Pom Bridge, which spanned Grobler's Kloof Spruit / Langverwagspruit at its confluence with the Tugela. With sandbag protection and guarded by Naval ratings. This photograph is reproduced in "With the Flag to Pretoria" (Volume 2, p. 446), with the caption "Grobler’s Kloof Spruit: Jack in Possession. Note the sand-bag defences; they were placed there by the Boers, who used the bridge as a sniping station".

And below, as it appeared in 1978 and 1981 (the latter view looking towards Colenso).
