Whilst on my perpetual hunt for medals I happened upon a lady who gave me a book signed by the author, one WH Smith, and titled Reminiscences of the Siege of Ladysmith.
This book was published by C. W. Budge & Co. Ladysmith, Natal in 1937 and contains the account, primarily in diary form of the Smith who was a telegraphist at the railway station at the time.
Has anyone heard of or seen this account before? It could be that I have a rare piece of Africana or it could be as common as cheese on bread
Any info would be appreciated. The only WH Smith I can find in the rolls was a Private who died in 1901 - this can't be the man..
Regards
Rory
