I acquired this commemorative item at Sunday's medal fair at Wakefield and wondered if any of our members could add any more details.
I am assuming it was a pin tray, something the Victorian ladies (or Gentlemen) would find useful.
It seems over the years it may have been used as an ash tray  but it has kept most of its colour.
Overall I think it is nicely made.

Frank,

I must admit I have not seen one in the flesh,so no.
I recently saw a Coleman's mustard tin in an antique shop, but the condition was poor for the price they were asking.
Any in your collection?

Paul

Good Morning Frank / Paul.....

You have to be very careful with the tea and biscuit tins as there have been copies made.... You really have to know what to look for..... There is that old saying that if it looks to good to be true then sometimes it's not......

I have two of the mustard tins, one in not great condition as you can see the edge where the shopkeeper would grab it to take it off the shelf (he was left handed) and one in about an 8 out of 10...... The big thing with them that you have to watch for is the inner lid and the paper label on the bottom and inside the lid.......

I thought I posted a number of photos of the tins here but cannot find it right now, will take some more if you are interested......
