I am new on this site, but having been in the surveying profession in KZN I have travelled the Province since 1966 and have visited most , if not all the Battlefields/War Memorials.

Both my Maternal Great Grandfather (Colonel RK Parke) and perhaps his son. my Grandfather (Robert Durham Parke) were in action. I am anxious to obtain any information relating to my Grandfather, as I never had the privilege of knowing him as he passed on a long long time before I was born and the family records/stories pertaining to him are virtually non
existent as my Mother/Aunts/Uncle were orphaned very young too.

Do you know the regiments in which your ancestors served? The Colonel should be relatively easy to track down. Also, have you searched the records in the Pietermaritzburg Archives?
