edward charles bacon was my grandfather and I am researching his military history. He was a cadet in the angloboer war and served in the second world war as a sergeant major.

There are 8 Edward Charles Bacon's on FMP..... Need some more information.....

If he was a member of the British Army and know he was serving in WW2, as you are related directly to him, I would be talking to the Ministry of Defence.

I do have a couple of photos of my grandfather - one in uniform. He was a C S M in the first world war in the ASC which I presume is the Army Service Corps. I can find nothing else about his army war record except the 14/15 Star. He was apparently allowed home in about 1917 when his eldest daughter died at the age of 9. He also had twin girls who were three at the time. He did leave his wife and I think had another family in Wokingham but during the war years his family was in Worthing. He is listed in the 1911 census in Worthing with his wife Laura (or sometimes listed as Lorrie) and his daughter Hilda.
I do wonder if his war records were lost. As I have another family that I know nothing about my cousin Gillian and I have been trying to track them down.

Again, if you know he was serving in WW2 and you have already looked at WO363 and WO364, the obvious thing to do is talk to the MOD.

I think he would have been too old for WW2. His Reg.No. in WW1 was T3/029048
