Good morning,
Well, from a medal point of view, I can certainly see a 1350 Private W Stone in WO100/185, do you know his date and place of birth?
From memory, the 2nd Cornwall's arrived in the Cape towards the end of November, your grandfather is likely to have been recalled to the colours for the Anglo Boer War.
He would certainly have seen the events at Paardeberg unfold, it was "the" battle, really, of the whole war, certainly very bloody indeed.
Anyway, welcome here, I look forward to hearing more about your grandfather,
Regards Frank Kelley

Okay, well it's certainly a nice medal, actually 2523 is under 1350 on the roll, the second clasp is Paardeberg and as mentioned, this particular battle was very bloody, the most costly of the whole war, it resulted in the destruction of the Orange Free State force and your grandfather was there and would have seen it all.
I had a brief look for his papers but they did not jump out at me, it is a common name, although, I would have thought he would not have taken any part in the Great War because of his age, if however, you actually do know his full name and place of birth, it might be worth you spending some time going through them.
