Hello folks. I thought that I was almost finished my family history slog,but undiscovered stuff keeps cropping up!!
I have recently discovered that a relative I am researching had military service that I hadn't known about previously.I wonder if group members can help me with a little information.
He appears to have trained for the mounted infantry, and I wondered if there was specific cloth insignia for this?

Some MI did have insignia and some did not can you provide more information......

Hello Mike, thank you for your reply.
The man in question was pte Robert Davies,2nd bn Loyal North Lancashire reg. He completed instruction classes for mounted infantry (May 1900-July '00)while stationed in Malta.He was posted to South Africa in Jan 1901.
I am by no means experienced in military matters Mike, so forgive my clumsiness.....

Sorry but I cannot find anything for that unit which would identify MI from regular battalion members......
