I have found his death cert and he died 23rd march 1936 and he is listed as an Army Pensioner, it didn't say he died of war wounds so that bit of info was wrong.

I have an update.. I had someone from the RDF site look for my Grandfather and he came up with this..
T. Maher 1899-1902 2nd Boer War 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers Reg no. 1687 Hopefully this is the right Thomas. :)

well it is 9 years later lol and I am no nearer knowing what he did in the boer war. He survived the war and lived thil 1936. I have his pension card which has his widow Ellen on it.

We have a few more resources online now than we did 9 years ago.

I suggest you have look on the FamilySearch website (free account available).

I entered these criteria and it responded with 124 matches. It would take some time but one of these might be your Thomas Maher.
