My copy of the Royal Highland Regiment medal roll shows "5185 Pte. David Wallace" as entitled to QSA clasps OFS Tv 1901 and 1902; this is for the 1st Bn., The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders).
Stirling's "Our Regiments in SA" says that the 1st Bn., BW arrived in SA from India about the end of December, 1901 and was attached to General Rundle and that the BW's "expeditious march and timely arrival" had saved a critical situation after the Tweefontein incident.
Afterwards, the Bn. was chiefly employed on the construction of the blockhouse lines and in guarding those lines during the big driving operations in the North of the ORC down to the close of the campaign.
Regards
IL.

Linneyl,
The photo I have of David Wallace in his military uniform says India on it. Things are coming together, a bit :)

Glad to be of help. Really, having a photo of a medal recipient is a great plus (it always gives me a buzz to be able to do it) and in this instance it should be kept with the medal for posterity, etc. It might be worth your while to have research done to see if other details of David Wallace might come to light. For example, in his service personal papers (if they still exist). I am not subscribed to ancestry, etc, so cannot help there.
I trust you have more Good Luck
