At the age of 15 I was given Volume One of "With the Flag to Pretoria" by a school friend who was emigrating to Oz. I was hooked! At 57 years old I still have it (also vol 2 and both parts of "After Pretoria"). I am still hooked. In between I spent two years working in South Africa (Lecturing at the University of Transkei 1996 to 98). As you can imagine I had long holidays, no prizes for guessing how and where I spent them!
