I am interested in the Boer War as i have recently found out that my great granddaddy (Lemuel Chance) was in it. He was in the 9th Battery of the Royal Field Artillery and therefore i am trying to find out more info on what his unit did and where it went, relevant battles, any photos, etc
I have his service record and it states he was out there 28 January 1900 to 14 August 1901 and he got the Cape Colony, O.7. State (is that Orange Free state?) and Transvaal clasps for the Queens medal - i think - plus the South Africa 1901 (is that another medal??).
So, any info that any of you out there can pass on to me would be much appreciated.
