Hello, Everybody,
I finally got her !
Very glad to find this site !
My Mother's father, John McNeill, served in the Boer War. According to Mum, he was mounted, and served in the British South Africa Constabulary.
He was wounded in the arm.
Would like to find ut any details about his service, particularly his unit etc.

Looking foward to learning more about this part of history.

Happy New Year to all, & hope to see you around (-:

Hello and Welcome Roscommon.....

I checked the Casualty list and there is only two J. McNeill's on the roll and they served in the Highland Light Infantry and Royal Dublin Fusiliers .....

Hello, Mike,

Many thanks for that precious information !
It does not sound like my GD - those units looke like regular army, I guess...
Also, according to family source, he was wounded by a SPEAR ? That would sound more like "civil unrest", I guess, than armed conflict against Boers ?

At least the search is now on !

Best reeards,
Roscommoner

Roscommon,

Welcome to the site.

I have looked at the medal rolls and, while there are several men of this name listed, none served in the BSAP.

Do you have any further details on his service?

Kind regards
David
