Hi,

I am researching the names of Boer War casualties that appear on war memorials in West Berkshire for my website ( www.westberkshirewarmemorials.org.uk ).

So far I have 12 who died (mainly from enteric fever/typhoid) and 8 survivors who are commemorated on a roll of honour. My principal interest is in the deceased. There is at least one more memorial (inside a locked church) that I have yet to record, so I may find a couple more names.

I have the basic info on most of the names - which unit they served in, when and where they died. I even have pictures of many of their graves (thanks to Terry Cawood and SAWGP). But there are still a couple of mysteries.

What I do need now is a detailed history so I can get some idea of what they were up to when they were killed or took sick.

Hello, PhilW, welcome aboard.
You could start on thread in the name of an individual soldier and members might be able to give you some info on the person.

Cheers,

Mark
