:S Hi i am trying to research my family and in particular my Grandfather, Hugh Martin who was born in New Zealand in 1866 and ended up in South Africa, reportedly involved with the British Forces during the siege of Ladysmith. My searching has revealed nothing at this stage.

No doubt you've looked here.
www.nzhistory.net.nz/war/nz-units-south-africa/roll-honour
There is a T.C. Martin listed. Any good?

There were no NZ units involved with the Siege so he may have been a member of a British or South African unit..... He could have been in SA when the war started and joined a SA unit....
