Hi another newbie.....

I recently discovered my great, great, great grandfathers diary from his time in the Boar War. His name was Sgt. Richard Small #3484 he has captured in great detail day to day life in the field and some of the major battles. He also mentions those who were killed or who were injured. I am more than happy to try and find out if he wrote anything about anyones relatives or if anyone just wants any further info - just let me know. I am in the process of using his diary to write a fictional novel!

Dear Sir

Like you I have a relative who served in the 1st Batt the Gordon Highlanders. I am in the process of writing a book based on his diary entries and I am using the diariy entries of other members of the battalion to tell his story.

It would be wonderful if you would would scan in and sending me a copy of his diary from November 1899 through to 30th April 1900 (when my relative was killed - when (believe it or not) a dud Boer artillery shell passed right through him).

Obviously if the book ever gets to the stage of being published I will include you as a reference. If you would like to see a copy of an earlier effort that I have had published (before I got a copy of his diary) type in Edmond chissel into google and you will soon see a copy of what I have already written, together with the style I have used. I am using the same style for the book.

My email address is [email protected]

If you feel you could and would be willing to help me, please contact me !

All the best

Andre Chissel

Hi,
I'm a new member. Spotted your entry on the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders. I'm searching for information on Lieutenant Graham VW Clowes, who was KIA near the Pakhuis Pass, Cape Colony, on January 30, 1901. At that time he was serving with the 6th Mounted Infantry under De Lisle. He was commissioned into the First Battalion in October 1898, and arrived in SA in November 1899. He joined his battalion up-country and, I think, took part in the battles at Magersfontein and Diamond Hill, among others. Does the diary that has come into your possession contain any references to him?
Thanks,
Richard Davies
