Starting from the African Service Medal (1939-45) and going clockwise on the photo of the wooden plaque with the medals on it: African Service Medal, 1914-15 Star, Anglo-Boere Oorlog, British War Medal 1914-20, & Victory Medal (WWI). Looks like there may have been something in the 12 o' clock position. Perhaps something to go with the ASM like a Defence Medal (1939-45). His World Wars service records should still be available at the SANDF Archives in PTA.

Cheers,

Mark
