Greetings Fellow Forum members,
Whilst my interests cover all wars and conflicts, the focus of my hobby is returning LOST MEDALS (those which are found as misplaced, traded, auctioned, donated, swapped, gifted, or stolen) to the families/descendant of the veteran they were originally awarded to. Obviously named medals are my start point however I do not refuse any research case. Un-named medals are particularly difficult cases (should I say impossible to return) unless accompanied by some item of associated ephemera that would allow me to conclude that the medals in all probability belong to the veteran. As a former career serviceman of 37yrs in the New Zealand & Australian Defence Forces I am ably assisted with research by two other ex-military colleagues.
We do not search for a families medals - we will only research only the medals we are holding which are routinely sent to us from all manner of organisations including, members of the public, returned service persons organisations, the Police, second hand and charity shops, and so on. We will research any medal we hold and our research service is FREE of any fee or charges; I personally bear all costs required as I believe our veterans and their families have earned and deserve this assistance for their service.
I have placed a post on the
Medals & Awards page regarding a QSA to an East Lancashire Regiment man that turned up in a demolished building. So far I have not established that the gentleman ever came to NZ after his service in SA. In this I would ask the Forum members for any assistance to trace his post Boer war movements and / or any family connections in Lancashire.
My thanks in anticipation ...
Kind regards
