Greetings everyone

I am Jannie Hunter, living in South Africa.
I am trying to find the birth records of my great grandfather who were born in Scotland and served in the Second Boer War.

William Hunter:
Hunter, William 36695, Private 114th Coy. I.Y., Lovat

Later joined the 4th infantry Transvaal Scots.
Attached is some of his records that I've found, dont know what area of Scotland he is from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Jannie Hunter

Have you tried

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/?gclicd={SI:g...n5jsYCFQgcwwodNbgAqA

It's a site where you have to buy credits.

Did he marry in the UK or in SA. If the latter, could you find his marriage certificate there - it might have his father's name on?

He married in SA, been meaning to pull his records, got my grandfather's birth record but it is a bit costly and just cant afford it at the moment...

Looking at the records i know more or less his age when he died, the military record is just a bit confusing.

Kind Regards
Jannie Hunter
