I'm looking for information concerning my great uncle Joe Gregor's military activities during the Boer War. His serial number was 35096.

Hello, Ken. Would he be Trooper Joseph Gregson?

LOL Berenice, I would always hope that I myself would know the basic details of a family member and they really do not get any more basic than a name, clearly a good place to actually start, however, if this man is the family member concerned, a quick look at his papers in WO128 and medal entitlement in WO100/123 would certainly be the way to go!

Sorry about the typo! My Great Uncles name was Joseph Gregson. As far as I know I have all the available records for him. There is a problem though, one set of records, on this site, says he broke his leg on a fall from a horse. His actual medical records only mentions his discharge for hammer toe. Thanks for the replies and sorry it took so long to read them!

Ken
The Palmer Casualty roll shows "35096 Pte J.Gregson" of the 8th IY as "broken leg, fall from horse" on an unspecified day in 1900. The SAFF casualty roll shows him in the section commencing 1/7/01 and ending 12/01 as place of injury "not stated" and "date not stated". He served with the 24th Coy of the 8th IY.
Regards
IL.

Thanks for that - it ties in with what I've got. My biggest problem is that he enlisted on 28th Feb 1901(according to his short service record), so I think the broken leg must have been someone else.
