I have recently purchased a QSA to a Trooper J. Moriarty (430) and I have copies of the National Archive records to confirm his clasps in cl. a South Africa 1901 clasp. However, when I look through the Driscoll's scouts books on the ABW site, there is nothing mentioned about him. Has this been picked up by anyone for another Trooper at all? i.e. are there record missing from the books?

Hello Ian

These are not "nominal rolls" as they are titled but "discharge books", most I have looked at are incomplete. You need to get someone to check WO126 at Kew for an attestation form.

Hi Meurig,

What is an attestation form. I have the WO 100 sheets from the National Archive's - are these something else?

Regards
Ian

WO100 is merely the medal roll, you should take a very careful look at WO126/40-43 to see if this particular mans paper has survived, they are not always where they should be, so it is worth looking through the lot, just to be on the safe side, if it has, although, it certainly is not much, he will have signed it, good hunting.
