Hello all...
My name is Tim and I'm a historyholic 1
Have had a passion for military history since my late teens even though action man and Airfix soldiers figured hugely in my childhood.
My main interests are cavalry between the Napoleonic and Great War periods especially Yeomanry cavalry.
This leads me to the Boer War where the Yeomanry came into their own and showed what can be done by trained civilians.

main interests are
Yorkshire Dragoons - my home town unit
Lancashire Hussars - my living history group unit
North Somerset Yeomanry - My local unit

Welcome to the forum! It is very good to be focussed on a certain type of unit or otherwise have a speciality. A short time ago, I did a post on a SSM Jordan who served with the North Somersey IY (48th Coy) ; you might find it of interest. A useful book regarding the IY would be Will Bennett's "Absent-Minded Beggars" (ISBN 0 85052 685 X) - the title is a bit of a misnomer. Amongst accounts of the ABW, there is still a deal of criticism of the IY. Some of it is justified and a lot of it is not. The Second IY contingent (the New Yeomanry) was hastily recruited, poorly trained (at best) and really "dropped into it". However, once they got some experience they proved to be quite effective.
