I am going to Heidelberg tomorrow and am asking if anyone can recommend any little gems to walk around or just good historical sites . I believe there are many old sangers and similar dug outs in the hills around the town.

Shown here is a copy of two pages from Ian Uys' book 'Heidelbergers of the Boer War'. It was published in 1981, so the information given may no longer be relevant, but there may be someone at one of the places mentioned who could help you. Good luck!

If you do visit St Ninian’s Anglican Church, I would appreciate photos of the brass tablets to Major Valletin and Nurse Edith Goodwin as I have the group to Major Vallentin and the QSA to Nurse Goodwin.

The information I received from the Vicar, was that the church was built by the townsfolk with help from the Garrison, but the main users were the troops.
