G'day,

My interest in the Boer War stems from the involvement of my great-grandfather, who served with the 2nd Queen's, and according to his records was wounded at Colenso, returning home in June 1902.

I am hoping to conduct more research on The Queen's involvement in the Boer War, thereby expanding on my knowledge of his service.

Welcome to the site! I am sure that you will find much of interest here. Stirling's "Our Regiments in South Africa" (which is on the site's "books" section) contains a quite good background to that Regiment's service in South Africa.
Regards
IL.

M8,

Welcome to the ABW site from another member Down Under. Argh the GGF syndrome, it is a great journey to discover your own family however you must be warned it is addictive from that point on. Tell us more, I am sure the colonials in here can assist you?

Cheers S

Thank you for the welcome, Stephen.

Yes, the family tree has become addictive, and I must point out that although I refer to him as my GGF, he may not actually be. My GGM was extremely interested in other men, and was not married to the GGF of record at the time, after the latter had found out that my GGM had had twins to another man whilst serving in South Africa.

It is a tangled web, but I shall elucidate further in a future post.
