Hello....I've just joined up to this site as my Great Great Grandad served in the Second Boer War and fought in the Battle of Diamond Hill. I have inherited his medals along with playing cards, and other related items. My mum is about to move house and today she gave me a dagger that my Grandad had been keeping. Its heave and about 12 inches long with a sheaf. Theres some writing on the blade and a date of 1899. I cannot tell though whether the dagger was issued to soldiers in the Boar War or whether my Great Great Grandad acquired it as a result of the war. Does anyone know. I can send pictures if that helps. Thanks for any help.
