George Renshaw was the step brother of my Father & according to him fought in the second Boer war. He was invalided out & ended up being a patient at Prestwich Mental Hospital (Greater Manchester) as a result. I can find no trace in any records of a George Renshaw in the Manchester Regiment so wondered if anyone can help? He would have been 17 in 1889 & his family lived in the Hulme/Chorlton on Medlock area of Manchester.

Thank you very much for this information. I am not 100% sure that this is my uncle so I am going to get a copy of his birth certificate to see if it corresponds with the record, particularly his date of birth.
Thank you once again for your help, it is much appreciated.
