Hello Everybody,

I am a new comer to this web page and I wonder if anybody could help me. I am researching my grandfathers history in the Boer War, I know he served with the St John Ambulance Brigade, I have his war medals but which organisation would approach for copies for his Boer War records.

I am currently reading " The Boer War" by Thomas Pakenham which is a fascinating book and gives a great understanding of the war.

Thank you for email and your prompt response to my query.

From the UK Military Campaign Medal and Awards Rolls my grandfather was 1317 private J.J. Platts from Tibshelf Derbyshire. Whilst I have his medals they have been mounted in a cabinet along with his 1914-18 war medals where he served with RAMC, so getting his number is difficult.

I would be interested in find out which particular theatre of the war he served in.

Please advise of any costs
