Edwin Drew, an eighteen year old musician and a serving member of the Militia, from Windsor, joined the Army, the 1st Royal Dragoons in London on the 9th of March 1900, with service in South Africa during the Anglo Boer War from the 7th of December 1900 until the 24th of May 1901, he took his own discharge after a payment of £18 on the 10th of September 1902, he gave his next of kin as his mother, Elizabeth, at the Crown Hotel in Windsor.
The "Royals" had a most interesting war from it's inception, although, of course, Drew was not serving at that point in time, despite the error in WO100/114, it remains a good tangible link to Drew's service, I should be very pleased with it if I were you.

Thank's for the info regards 4667 Drew.
As you mentioned the WO100/114 records incorrectly record him as T DREW
Thank's to you I now know his full name is Edwin Thomas Drew, his medal is engraved/stamped T DREW 4667.
Have managed to find some of his service record on line, plenty of info to dig into.
will now research him.
many thanks for the info and advice

The medal should be either impressed or engraved, but, not both.

John,
What you wont find online was that by 1912 DREW 4667 was serving in the band of the Berkshire Yeomanry in Windsor (A Squadron) as a Bandsman Sergeant. He played the cornet.
So your medal is of interest to me as I follow Berkshire Territorials. I hope your still around and come back to respond as I would be interested to know what you have learnt in the last 3 years.
