Hi, I am a new member and am seeking advice as researching a distant relative is proving difficult.
I have a photo of my great grandfather in RAMC uniform. He is wearing two medals, the Sudan medal and a Kings South Africa medal.
I thought the KSA was only issued with the QSA.
I have been not been able to find out much about this relative. I think I have found him on the Sudan medal roll serving in the 1st Lincolns and know that he served in WW1 also. I think I have found his regimental number on the silver war badge roll, but nothing else.
Can anyone tell me if they have come across anyone with only the KSA?

Hi Mike,

The details I have are - Charles Henry Cousins born 22/09/1877 in Boston, Lincolnshire ( although on his marriage certificate he is shown as Henry Charles)
The regimental number on the Sudan medal roll is 3801 to a C Cousins.
The regimental number on the silver war badge to Charles Cousins is 424014, this seems to fit with him being RAMC TF and his age fits.

Jon

That would be very unlikely, can you show the photograph please, is he actually wearing the medals themselves, or, merely their ribbons, a brief look at WO100/80 confirms his entitlement to BOTH Sudan medals, the latter with two clasps.

Hi Frank.....

Do you think that possibly it could be a Khedives medal, most likely in a Black and White photo they may be confused.......
