Yes Mike, 3801 C Cousins 1st Lincolnshire Regiment was very clearly the recipient of BOTH Sudan medals!

I think I have now attached the photo, but we'll see.

Yes for sure that is the Khedive's Sudan Medal, not the King's South Africa Medal......

Thanks for all your comments, that's certainly solved one mystery about the photo. Sometimes the glaringly obvious can be ignored because of a family myth/rumour.
Was thrown by the medal, as even in black and white the Khedives medal in the photo looks like it has darker edges with a light centre and so discounted it as the Khedives is yellow/blue/yellow!
It seems gggrandad may not have gone to South Africa after all! Will have to find a Sudan forum!

Many thanks,
Jon

Indeed, both the Victorian Wars Forum and the Great War Forum are the obvious places to go to, the medals are a most handsome pair, are they still somewhere in the family or long gone?

The 2nd of September 1898 was a most memorable day for the 1st Lincolnshire's, I wonder just what Cousin's made of it all, I dare say he spent quite some time "mopping up" afterwards.
