Hi All

Many thanks to all for the warm welcome

Hopefully will be attempting to post in the near future about the 'Jacobsdal incident' with a little help from forum members.

I'm looking for any information on who was present and wether any of the men of Prince Alfred's Own Cape Artillery detachment have been identified?

Cheers

Kim

Welcome! I share your interests in Ladysmith and local units, so I look forward to reading your contributions.

It is safe to say that the ILH is amongst the best of the regiments that fought in the Boer Way. It is certainly my favourite, so I hope that you will be able to share the diary with us.

Hi Brett
As far as I can tell the diary is written by William T F Davies who went on to serve in the RAMC from 1917 until he was discharged in 1919 on medical grounds.
I hope to be able to post a copy soon.

"W.T.F.Davies" is actually Surgeon Major W.T.F.Davies, DSO (QSA clasps Cape Colony, Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Relief of Mafeking). There is a write-up on him in the DSO book. If it interests you, I can post a group pic featuring Surgeon Maj. Davies from Gibson's The Story of the Imperial Light Horse.
Having had a firm interest in the ILH for many years, I would be interested in seeing a copy of theDavies diary.
