Hi All - I am a keen Detectorist (Metal) with a general interest in the Boer War. Unfortunately I live in Napier in the Western Cape and there doesn't appear to be any sites where action took place. Were there any skirmishes in the cape especially near to where I am based. I am a genuine person and not a "Grave Robber'.

Hello DSouter and welcome to the Forum.

I looked just now to see where Napier is on the map and you are a fair way south, much further south than any action in the Boer War, as far as I know. The Boer forces did penetrate into the Cape but not very far. I imagine you will have to travel north to be able to do any Boer War detecting.

Hi David - I was expecting that but were there no British campsites in the Western cape or did the troops travel North as soon as they arrived here?
