Hi,

I recently discovered the record for my Great Grandmother in the Krugersdorp concentration camp (Maria Magdalena Joubert) and her 4 daughters. It notes her husband as Jan Hendrik Joubert. this is the first time I've found his name so now I am intrigued. I think he was in the Krugersdorp commando as that's where my grandmother was born. I see that there was a Veld Cornet with that name who served under General de la Rey, I would love to find out more about him and when he died etc.

If I were you, as a first port of call, I would talk to the Anglo Boer War Museum in Bloemfontein, interestingly, I see there was a recipient of the DTD with that name who is listed on this site.
Of course if that particular man is the one in question here, any medals, such as the DTD and ABO had to be claimed and those papers gave considerable detail, more importantly, they remain extant today.
