I am researching the military history of my ancestors. Those that fought in the Boer War were:-
Sgt. Issac Barton. No. 2908. 2 Bn Manchetsr Regt (Composite Company Mounted Infantry). DCM, QSA, KSA, LS & GC medals.
Sgt. William Henry Finch No. 3127 1 Bn Suffolk Regt. (transferred to Sgt 2 Bn on 25/09/00, promoted to Colour Sgt on 23/01/04). QSA, KSA, LS & GC medals.
Pte. / L. Cpl Ernest Finch No. 1689 2 Bn Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regt). Ashanti Star, QSA and KSA medals (held at regimental museum).
Pte. William Griffin No. 3654 1 Bn Gordon Highlanders (wounded 11/12/99 Magersfontein).
I have just posted a question regarding Isacc Barton on the forum. I think the others need to be added to the website listings. I am currently reading about the 2 Bn West Yorks in the Boer War to piece together where Ernest Finch fought. I aim to eventually fully research all four. Any assistance/information/advice would be greatly welcome.
