Hi all. My last query post was some time ago, as you know research is all time consuming but after 5 years I finally printed a book. It encompasses Anzac Spirit 14 years to the MOMENT before Anzac day and the parallels and coincidences do not stop there. In this tiny event in the middle of the South African desert in 1901 we find 3 gallantry awards, an attack against greater odds, an Aussie bluff and a con and so much more. I have been able to name the 22 men in that patrol, and now have images of all of them including the adversary and captured memorabilia. I still stunned that fate picked me to find this evidence and piece it all together. The side track issues are nothing short of fascinating, in fact because of one photograph I evolved a skill in forensic interpretation and those results have discovered much more than our standard vision can see. I have tried to write it entertainingly than just facts, so it does ask a few questions and leaves a few unsolved puzzles, but as one Anglo=Boer War respondent said awhile back, these stories peel the apple down to the core and we don't find enough of them. I am so privileged to have found the pieces of this event and more so to have found approachable and knowledgeable peers and families willing to help and learn. And the best thing is that I could get the story bound and printed and out there for $20. They tell me that the hard yards start now to pay the printer, but all I have found is the more people you meet, the more they want to know. I seem to have set myself a high standard with this story, but there has to more. We'll see. Cheers Wayne
