There is a chance that my grandfather , Carl Olsson may have fought on the side of the British and I am wondering IF THIS IS PERHAPS HIM, and  how I can obtain copies of his: 
record, file, with signature, country of origin, perhaps parents/siblings names etc.

There is one Carl Olsson in Find My Past......

He served in...….
Utrecht-Vryheid Mounted Police, Rank: Trooper, Number: 230
and
2 Kitchener's Fighting Scouts, Rank: Private, Number: 540

In his documents it also states he was a Distinguished Conduct Medal.....
